Wise Counsel Press LLC helps entrepreneurs and small businesses develop a firmer legal foundation that protects them, reduces their costs, and enables them to grow and prosper...wisely. We do this by helping them to spot the legal issues and know the questions to ask, rather than trying to turn them into "instant attorneys."
Nina L. Kaufman
Founder of Wise Counsel Press, Nina fuels the company with her creativity and exuberance. She acts as outsourced general counsel to members of the "solopreneur" and small business communities in their mission to provide wise counsel for growing businesses®.
An Award Winner in Entrepreneurial Excellence
Nina has been recognized for her entrepreneurial excellence with an award from Working Woman magazine in the category of Customer/Client Service (New York Region). She has also been featured in Entrepreneur magazine, The New York Law Journal, The Forward, and fortune.com, and has appeared on Fox Channel 5's Good Day NY. Her articles have appeared in Female Entrepreneur magazine, Enterprising Women magazine, the online salon TheSquare.com, JDBliss.com, and other third-party newsletters.
An Educator with a Sense of Humor
Who knew that a lawyer could have a real sense of humor? Nina performs stand up comedy not, as she promised her law partner, "to give up her day job", but to enhance her effectiveness as a public speaker. She is a long-time member of Toastmasters International (SEC Roughriders Chapter), where she has won awards for her humorous speeches. She has taught courses, led workshops, and given numerous seminars on entrepreneurship and small business legal issues, both in the United States and abroad.
A Belief in "Sharing the Wealth"
Wanting to "give back to the community", Nina has shared her time and expertise with a number of organizations, most notably as a Board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners/New York City Chapter, where she currently focuses on public policy issues and initiatives and serves as the liaison to the NAWBO National Public Policy Council. She is also an active member of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun in New York City, having volunteered with its homeless shelter for nearly ten years.
Nina's other interests -- not necessarily in this order-- include international travel, single malt scotch whisky, parliamentary procedure, golf, and photography.
